“Preserving Dunedin fire brigade heritage for over half a century.”
The Dunedin Fire Brigade Restoration Society is a registered charity focused on fire brigade heritage in the greater Dunedin area. We exist to preserve that heritage for the public and future generations, as well as the promotion of fire safety.
We originated in September 1971 with the formation of Vintage & Veteran Fire Appliances Otago and the acquisition of Fire #16, our 1935 Ford V8 appliance, from the Dunedin Metropolitan Fire Board. In 1973 a second appliance and a 50-foot wheeled escape ladder were donated. From there the collection began to grow into our substantial holdings today. For a fuller history of the society and an outline of our main focuses, please see the About the Society section of our website.
We attend, host, and support many events and activities around Dunedin. To get an overview of some of what we offer, please see the Events & Fundraising section of our website. If any of these activities interest you, or you have a proposal for an event you’d like us to assist with, please contact us via the Contact & Enquiries page.
